Why I Make Tables

Early this year I made a decision to focus my creative time and energy into designing one particular thing: tables. Why tables? Out of all the crazy, cool more interesting things one can make? Here's  3 reasons why...

Tables are simple.

Tables are communal.

Tables are timeless.

Yes, there are many exceptions to these 3 rules, but those aren't the kind of tables I'm interested in making. I love building beautiful, sturdy, no frills tables that bring people together. Think of how many memorable moments and life changing conversations you've had around a table. They are the silent witnesses to historical events as well as people's deepest secrets (or perhaps just a game of scrabble). All kinds of good and evil is done around them. But it is my hope and prayer is that the wood I carefully select and join together inspires more positive experiences than not;)

I know I may be over dramatizing here, but this is why I do what I do. In the end, I know I'm only making inanimate objects that may be treasured or sold at a garage sale one day. All I care is that is passes through peoples lives as something that facilitated a healthy batch of good memories.

The true joy of what I do is seeing the look on a new owner's face or an excited text message saying how they can't wait to plan their next dinner party, family gathering, or get to work on their new desk with refreshed creative vigor--all because of some pieces of wood...screwed and glued together with love;)

My name is Monk and I make tables.

Here are some more 'on topic' pics. Just click on them to be transported at (hopefully fast) broadband speed to our Etsy shop. Enjoy...
